Live Redirects - AKA Red Carpet or Rodeo or Afterparty
YouTube Support Article - Live Redirects (Link)
The Live Redirect feature allows you to navigate your viewers from a Livestream, directly to a video's premiere. (Or vice versa). OR from one premiere, to another premiere (rolling premieres).
Setting up Live Redirects is a collaborative process between Vevo Content Ops, and the Content Provider (or whoever has access to the OAC), as Vevo Content Ops does not have access to OACs! Please read carefully and take notes of the steps that fall under your responsibility.
Eligibility:
- This feature is available to YouTube Channels that have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes.
- This feature can only be used for redirecting to/from a livestream OR another premiere watchpage. Redirects cannot be set up for unlisted videos, private videos, or public videos. It is for premieres or livestreams only.
With a Vevo video, a Live Redirect can be set up one of three ways:
Please read the below steps carefully and complete the steps that are the responsibility of the Content Provider.
OAC Livestream ends, and Redirects to VEVO video Premiere
- Deliver your video to VEVO as you normally would.
- Set up your VEVO premiere as you normally would (either via Backstage or the form).
- Contact content@vevo.com to add the OAC as a channel that is allowed to redirect. Please provide the VEVO channel name (ArtistVEVO), and the OAC URL that will redirect to the Vevo video.
- Create a Livestream.
- Click "Edit Settings" of your Livestream.
- Click "Customization".
- Under Redirect click "Add".*
- Search "videos from other channels" and enter the VEVO video URL.
- When your live stream ends, you’ll see a confirmation saying your viewers will be redirected.
*Please note steps 4-9 are the responsibility of the Content Provider. Vevo Content Ops cannot access the OAC and so cannot actually set up the redirect for you. Vevo Content Ops will only take care of step 3.
*If the Redirect option is not available when you're logged into your artist's OAC, please do not contact Vevo content ops as we cannot assist with enabling the feature! Please contact your YouTube Partner manager, or artist-support@youtube.com
VEVO video Premiere ends, and Redirects to a Livestream on the OAC
- Deliver your video to VEVO as you normally would.
- Set up your Vevo premiere as you normally would (either via Backstage or the form).
- Add the artist's VEVO channel as an approved redirect channel. You will need the Vevo channel URL.
- Go to YouTube Studio.
- From the left, click Settings and then Community.
- Under “Approved live redirects,” enter the Vevo channel URL.
- Click Save.
- Contact Vevo content ops to set up your Live Redirect on the approved premiere. (content@vevo.com)
- Content Ops will confirm when the premiere with redirect is set up. Do not make any update to the video in Backstage, this will undo the setup of the Live Redirect.
*Please note steps 3-7 are the responsibility of the Content Provider. Vevo Content Ops cannot access the OAC and so cannot actually complete these steps for you.
Vevo video Premiere ends, Redirects to another Vevo video Premiere (Rolling Premieres)
AKA "Rolling premieres". This strategy is often employed with album releases, so viewers are redirected from premiere to premiere, listening to/watching the whole album in the desired order. Please note that rolling premieres are only available for a short window, while the videos are premiering. After the premieres are over, the feature will no longer be available, and viewers will need to visit a playlist for the same experience later on.
1. Deliver your videos to VEVO as you normally would.
2. Set up your Vevo premieres as you normally would (either via Backstage or the form). IMPORTANT: To achieve the "rolling premiere" effect, each video's premiere and start time must be staggered, each video premiere a few minutes behind the other, in the order you would like them to play.
3. Send an email to Vevo content ops with the numbered list of YouTube video links in the specific order you want the redirects to be set up.
4. Once you get confirmation from Content Ops, the redirects will be set up and ready to go! For best results, please do not update videos after these are set up.
